Recreating the past

Anyone that knows me, knows that I like to document history in the lives of my kids and our family.  Sometimes that is through pictures and sometimes that is through photobooks with stories of our adventures.  I was recently asked to recreate a family photo taken more than 10 year ago - what fun!

Lisa's husband keeps this photo on his desk and she wanted to surprise him with an updated photo.  It was fun to take some of them holding the picture (above) and some of them together, in a similar pose (below).

Now, with these 3, who are very fun, we had to do some fun photos....  

Yes, that's right, Bryce climbed all the way up in that tree , He was easily 8-10 feet up!  The, there is this optical illusion in the middle photo :).  And, Bryce carrying his mom around on his back was a fun too!

Lisa couldn't let Bryce be the only one to get up that tree so she headed that way too.  The space between the fence and tree was too big though so she climbed to the top of the fence  Amy got in on the fun too and ran around to the other side of the fence to climb up as well!

Since everyone was there and lookin' so good, we thought we'd capture some other group and individual shots.  I hope you enjoy them as much as I enjoyed spending some time with Lisa, Bryce, and Amy.

Family

Slow start but an awesome finish!

Sometimes you meet a family that touches your heart.  Don't get me wrong, I have been so fortunate to really, truly, genuinely enjoy EACH and every client I have worked with in 2016.  This family, however, had a special boy.  A shy boy.  A sweet boy.  A challenge for me, as a photographer.

He wasn't having any part of this "smile", "look here", "say cheese".  It easy to get frustrated, as a mom, I know when my kids choose to be extra shy on picture day I always thought "why me".  We worked together and he started to trust me...

After a few high-fives and some giggles... he really came to life!  (and maybe a bribe from mom and dad)

Thanks to a loving, fun, and patient mom & dad... we did it!

All that glitters...

 ....IS gold when it comes to sweet Zuri and her 1st birthday.  Her mom made the most adorable props and, well, there might have been a little bit of glitter involved.  ;)

The sweet pea was all smiles and it was so fun to capture them in the studio.

And, as if glitter wasn't enough, there was FROSTING!  That's right, Miss Zuri had a smash cake ready for her to enjoy.... and boy, oh boy, did she enjoy it!

Autumn, Broncos & Family

 

It was obvious the first time I met Diane that her family was her first priority so when she asked me to take her family photos, I was thrilled!  Her kids, Erin and Sean were darling and I loved that they were all decked out in their Bronco gear... down the shoes and jewelry.

  

 

 

...and these kids.  Could they be any cuter?!

Let him eat cake!

Kyler'Rhys was turning one and his mom (and grandma) were so excited to have his picture taken.  Once I saw that smile and those eyes, I could see why!

They brought the coolest antique whisky crates, a banner and hat the grandma made and... you guessed it, a CAKE!  Ky was such a happy guy, he was so easy to photograph.  Although, as you'll see, he wasn't so sure about this whole "eat" cake idea - let alone, get messy!  :)

 

 

 

 

It didn't take long before he caught onto the idea and decided that this was YUMMMMY!

The Piersons

Last Spring I was honored to go to the Ohana School for Early Learning and photograph all the students ages 6-weeks to 5 years.  It was a long but fun day full of smiles and some "hidden" smiles.  One of the boys that was all smiles was Carter.  It was so fun to be able to go his house and photograph his entire family - are they cute or what?!

  

 

We had a fun time in their backyard and he introduced me to his sister... can you stand those cheeks and that grin?  So adorable!

 

 

 

 

Carter's Dad does obstacle course races (for fun :) !) and Carter was excited to show me the lay set he has in the backyard.

 

 

  

 

 

Once we saw the backyard and took some pictures, it was time to bring the puppy (said lightly) into the pictures.  Although I said they may want to look for a saddle, I was told that she is just a puppy and this European Great Dane is still many pounds away from full grown. 

 

 

 

Before we were done, we had to get some shots on their porch and the green grass in the front yard.  This brother and sister duo are adorable and obviously love each other.  Thanks so much, Pierson Family, for sharing your family with me!
